Changing Scenes

Supporting Older Carers and Families.

older-carers-and families

Oxfordshire Family Support Network (OxFSN) is here to to provide information, advice and support to family carers of all ages, including older family members who care for a relative with learning disabilities.

We hold regular get-together meetings across the county, giving family carers an opportunity to discuss their experiences, to find out more information about what help is available to support them in their caring role.

The ‘Changing Scenes’ group, funded by Comic Relief, was set up especially for older carers and families. To explore and discuss, in supportive group sessions, any aspirations they may have for themselves and/or their relative(s) with learning disabilities. To consider possible ways for how their relative might be supported to live independently, and try to plan for a time when their caring role may change.

Because I’m Worth It! – Ways to Well-Being

The Changing Scenes project seeks to inform, inspire and support older carers through informal workshops and monthly get-together events to share experiences of being a family carer of a relative with a learning disability.

This film is an example of one such workshop entitled “Because I’m Worth It! – Ways to Well-being”, the aim of which is to help carers think about strategies for improving their personal well being, so that, in some small way, it may help them in their valuable caring role.
